Pain Relief
Osteoarthritis is arthritic pain that results from normal wear and tear on your joints and is rarely seen in anyone under 40. Women are affected more than men and by the time most people reach 75 there is some degree of arthritis in their hips, knees or feet, fingers, and the spine, which can cause back and neck stiffness.
The other common type of arthritis is called Rheumatoid Arthritis which is a systemic disease that can affect the entire body and is characterized by membrane inflammation that lines the joint. This causes pain, stiffness, warmth, redness and swelling. Other symptoms associated with the disease include loss of appetite, fever and anemia. Lumps of tissue can also form under the skin. In an April Reuters article by Randall Pierson, both Celebrex and Vioxx have been "stealing market share from naproxen, aspirin and other painkillers called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs."
Quit Smoking
We now know that cigarettes are addictive, and that nicotine is the drug in tobacco that causes addiction. Smokers are compelled to smoke by this addiction to nicotine, but it is the over 4000 other chemicals in cigarette smoke that cause the most harm. This combination makes cigarettes deadly.
