JUNE 2002

Dear Purduers:

college paper topics

ON SUNDAY, JULY 14th WE WILL HAVE THE ANNUAL PURDUE FAMILY PICNIC AT LAKES PARK IN FT. MYERS FROM 11:00 AM UNTIL 4:00 PM.  We will be providing a great meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potatoe salad, cole slaw, desert, and beverages.  Price for adults is $10 and for those under 21 it is only $5.  We have reserved Shelter #B-2.  The location is directly in front of the main entrance to the park.  Parking Lot #2 is close to our shelter which is reasonably near restrooms and the many amenities offered at the park.  We have reserved some canoes, paddle boats and bikes for our group.  The Lakes Park entrance is at 7330 Gladiolus Drive which is about 1/4 mile west of US#41.  Get your gang together and send in your reservation form ASAP.  I will be the Event Chairman for this function and can be reached at my home ) or office ext.120).

RESERVATION FORM FOR PICNIC

We invite high school students who have applied and been accepted for admission to Purdue and their parents to be our guests at the picnic.  Also invited with their parents are the high school juniors who during the past month have been awarded the Purdue Cross Pen at their school as the outstanding student in Science and Mathematics.

FOOTBALL is just around the corner.  PURDUE plays Notre Dame at South Bend on September 7th.  As we have done for the past twenty-three (23) years, we will have a pre-game luncheon with the Southwest Notre Dame Club at the Spanish Wells Country Club in Bonita Springs on Wednesday, September 4th.  We will have phone hook-ups for interviews with the football coaches.  Reservation forms for the PU-ND Luncheon can be sent in at this time.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS include the PURDUE-Indiana Old Oaken Bucket Party on November 23rd and the Big Ten Golf Tournament and Dinner on December 1st.  Both of these events will be held at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club.  More information on these two events will be coming in a future newsletter.

PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK---We are pleased to report that our club was selected as one of the “Outstanding Purdue Alumni Clubs” in America.  The announcement was made by the Purdue Alumni Association during Gala Week.  It was also announced that our Club Vice President, Nancy Elliott, is the newly elected PAA Region 12 Director.  She will be on the Board for a three (3) year term and succeeds me as the current Region 12 Director.  Congratulations Nancy!

We hope to see you at our Purdue Family Picnic on Sunday July, 14th.  If you have gone away for the summer, we look forward to seeing our paths cross at another of our club events later this year.  GO BOILERS!!!
